“Focus is the new IQ.”
Mark Tigchelaar studied neuropsychology and helps professional athletes, entrepreneurs and knowledge professionals to gain more from their brain. By working with more than 100.000 people in the past 15 years, he found out that the key component to improve performance is Focus Management. Without control over our attention, it takes more time to do our work and we experience more stress. In the long-term it even increases the chance of a burnout. Through in-depth studies of the brain, he identified four concentration leaks. When you know which these are, and know how to stop them, you gain control over your focus and with that your productivity. Mark wrote five books and gave several TEDx Talks on how to use insights of neuroscience to improve our performance.

“What Will Software Look Like Once Anyone Can Create It?.”
When you think about it, the history of productivity software is surprisingly short on disruptive moments. Google Sheets, for instance, may be web-based and collaborative, but its conceptual bones are the same as those of Microsoft Excel (established 1985), which itself followed the lead of Lotus 1-2-3 (1983) and VisiCalc (1979). That’s not a knock on Google; it’s just proof that the spreadsheet has remarkable staying power as a workplace tool. The same is true of the word processor, presentation package, database, email client, and a few other eternal verities of business productivity. However, documents and spreadsheets haven’t changed in over 40 years. To turn docs into apps, Coda had to rethink productivity from scratch.Coda is the brainchild of Shishir Mehrotra and Alex DeNeui, two old friends who met at MIT and then worked together at both Microsoft and YouTube before starting the company. As they were formulating ideas for their startup, they considered the state of productivity tools and then asked themselves, “What if we started from scratch?” explains Mehrotra, now the company’s CEO. “We’re going to build a new type of doc that blends the best parts of all the docs you know: documents, spreadsheets, presentations, applications. The core thesis is that you can build a doc that’s as powerful as an app.”
Shishir is the CEO and cofounder of Coda, a Greylock- and GC-backed startup reimagining the document. He was formerly an executive at YouTube, overseeing the product management, engineering, and design teams. From 2008 to 2014, he helped grow YouTube to the world’s largest video destination, one of Google’s largest and fastest growing businesses, and the platform of choice for a new generation of video creators.

“The Doctor Bringing Focus to Medical Care.”
How did you get to know GTD? For Julie, it was a coincidental run-in at the local bookstore where David’s book was on display with a simple sign: Get and Read. She dropped everything to read it twice and decided she needed a GTD consultant to help her out.
Around that time Julie’s successful Ob-Gyn practice was flourishing and introducing the methodical thinking behind Getting Things Done saved both her personal and professional life more than once. Although she describes the mental process as a life-long learning journey, she persists on thinking in terms of desired outcomes and next actions, writing things down and doing a weekly review.
“I appreciate this Summit in Amsterdam as it means the coming together of an extraordinary group of people from all over the world seeking to live sensibly, in a meaningful and purposeful way to the get the most and best out of our lives… to share and give back. If you meet up with Dean at the Summit, be ready for a ride into a very smart universe!

“Performance enhancer using cognitive psychology.”
Edward Lamont brings you more than 15 years of experience in the areas of leadership, productivity, and motivation.
After years of changing the way the world works one room at a time, his more recent focus has been in increasing the impact of GTD coaching by working with clients to create a shift in their organisational working culture. Setting up a supportive organisational context for individual learning, Ed now finds it’s well possible to change the expectations that people have of what a ‘normal’ working practice is. This way he is able to reinstall a work-life balance for people while they can get meaningful things done in a reasonable time.
Talking about balance, don’t be surprised when Ed comes on stage walking a slackline.

Leadership, what does it really mean? Let’s look past the buzzwords at the essence of what a ‘captain courageous’ really needs to do and be. Real stories from exceptional people who’ve walked the walk.
-
Block 2: Designing collaborative workplace cultures.
What role does organisational culture play on the ability of teams to be productive? Unlock the secrets of methodologies like Holacracy and GTD practices that help run a systemically productive organisation.

-
Who will be attending the GTD® Summit?
The GTD® Summit is for anyone that's interested in improving their own path to a clear mind, regardless of whether you consider yourself a GTD® enthusiast or you have yet to pick up a copy of the book.
The people who have been most attracted to David Allen’s work and the GTD® methodology over the years, are often the people who need it the least! They are already, by all accounts, some of the most productive, pro-active and energetic people you would ever meet. Curiously, it's their own productivity and creativity that have put them up against their own internal limitations of cognitive space. They have a driving sense that they could do even more, even better, if they had more room.
