Peter Gallant

Peter Gallant

Dr. Peter Gallant, serial entrepreneur, most recently the founding President and CEO of Pathogen Detection Systems, Inc., a start-up specializing in the automated, on-site detection of potentially harmful bacteria such as E.coli in drinking water supplies. In addition to leading the company from its incorporation through several rounds of private equity investment, he is presently focused on business development, regulatory affairs, and management of the company's growing portfolio of intellectual property.

He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of several private companies, and has advised numerous start-up companies and entrepreneurs, including serving on the Business Advisory Committee of the David Allen Company. His major professional interests include understanding the dynamics of management of start-up companies and strengthening the critical link between strategy and execution to enable early-stage companies better manage execution-related risks.

Dr. Gallant has received several awards for both his entrepreneurial and teaching activities, including being named the Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2002) in the City of Kingston. He holds B.Sc., M,Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Queen's University, and has served as a teaching fellow and adjunct Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Applied Science and the internationally-ranked Queen's School of Business. From 1993-1995, he served as Rector of Queen's University and as a member of the university's Board of Trustees.

He resides in Kingston, Ontario, Canada with his wife and two children and is a licensed private pilot.
