Kim Hagerty

Kim Hagerty is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Hagerty Group, LLC, headquartered in Traverse City, Michigan. The Hagerty Group is the management company which oversees several specialty insurance and related business entities, finance and real estate holdings and development entities.

As Chief Executive Officer of the Hagerty Group, Ms. Hagerty oversees the business and operations of Hagerty Insurance Agency, Inc., Hagerty Marine Insurance and several other entities and their affiliates. Under her direction, the companies' strategic planning and growth targets are determined. Ms. Hagerty also coordinates the efforts of the senior executives and works with them to develop current and long-term objectives, policies and procedures for the organization, all in an effort to perpetuate Hagerty's core value of continuous improvement. She represents the organization to the financial community and the general public.

Hagerty Insurance Agency started as a small, family-owned general lines agency more that forty years ago with a handful of employees. It has matured to include a roster of almost four hundred employees.

Family is of great importance to Ms. Hagerty. As a reflection, she is passionately devoted to maintaining a family culture within the company. She currently resides in northern Michigan with her husband and daughter.


Prior to joining the Hagerty Group, Ms. Hagerty practiced business transactional and real estate law in Nevada and California. She is currently licensed to practice in the states of Michigan, Nevada and California. She also served in the capacity of magistrate pro tem.


Ms. Hagerty earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Albion College in Albion, Michigan. Additionally, she has extensive mediation and negotiation training.

Ms. Hagerty is the Chairman Emeritus of the Board of the Children's House, a Montessori elementary school in Traverse City, Michigan. She is also Chairman Emeritus of Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village, Nevada. Each position is the result of numerous extended terms as a member of the organizations’ board of directors.

In 2007, she was named "Leading Lady of Business" by the Traverse City Business News.
